Note: Many thanks to Karsten Self and others on the free-sklyarov list, who really opened my eyes on the subject of personal encryption.

It is a good idea to deposit your public key on a keyserver so that other email users can conveniently authenticate your messages. First, add the following line to ~/.gnupg/options.

    keyserver keys.pgp.com
Then, submit your key to the keyserver with the following command.
    gpg --send-keys your_email_address
Key service is a distributed system, and the keyservers update each other, so that your key will rapidly be available to authenticate your email messages around the world.
