-------------------------------------- Phex - the pure java gnutella client v. 0.7.3 07/11/2002 -------------------------------------- The latest version of Phex can be obtained from http://phex.sourceforge.net -------------------------------------- How to... 1. install Phex Extract this zip in the directory of your desire. Thats it, no setup, no installation. 2. run Phex Now this is truly complicated part. First you will need the JavaTM 2 SDK, Standard Edition, v 1.3 installed on your system. You can get it from http://www.javasoft.com. A properly configured computer might already have it installed, but if the next step fails, it will most likely be due to the absence of Java. As Phex is cross-platform, it is somewhat hard to describe the startup-process in general. Win XP, Win2K, WinME, Win98, Win95: If Java is installed correctly you will most likely be able to start Phex by simply clicking on the file "phex.jar". If it is opened by a archiver program (like Winzip) you might be able to run it by right-clicking on the file and selecting "open with..." and the selecting "javaw". Alternative (most other systems): You can also enter "java -jar phex.jar" at the command line. 3. more information To obtain some more information on Phex like howtos and the project itself please take a look at the Phex homepage: http://phex.sourceforge.net
